This project is part of a programme entitled ‘En route pour l’école’. It is part of a rehabilitation and/or construction and landscaping programme for 2 primary schools in small villages (douars) on the outskirts of Skoura (between 4 and 10 km from the centre).
Although the number of children enrolled at schools in Morocco has significantly increased over recent years to reach 92.7% currently, the dropout rate at primary level remains high, due to the long distances and lack of public transport.
What’s more, the Moroccan educational context is plagued by a significant infrastructure deficit and the objective of the Kingdom, today, is to build or rebuild 7,000 schools across the country.
The Tiriguioute school is located in Skoura in the Moroccan High Atlas, about forty kilometres from Ouarzazate.
The town of Skoura was chosen because of its rural and arid situation and its economic context.
The project aims at quality schooling in good conditions in an isolated region. It also aims to help increase the school enrolment rate and reduce dropout.
