In support of Casino’s Social and Environmental Responsibility undertakings, the GoodPlanet Foundation will be working with this group in 2014 on the issue of responsible fishing. Upstream of this collaboration, the Casino brands have already taken the initiative of removing three deepwater species (scabbardfish, roughhead grenadier, cusk), from January 1 2014, from its “fresh fish” counters. This move is in addition to the removal of the blue ling and large-eyed bream in 2007.
This decision is part of an extended analysis begun in 2007 on the group’s procurement policy regarding products provided by local and sustainable fishing, to be challenged by GoodPlanet.
